Next Bible Study Subject  "HYPOCRISY"

These verses are about people who say something and do something else. They do everything differently. It's like

lying with your life instead of your tongue. People don't like hypocrites. Neither does God. Don't be one like that.

Matthew 23:28
28  Even so you also outwardly appear righteous to men, but inside you are full of hypocrisy and lawlessness.
Luke 12:1-3
1  In the meantime, when an innumerable multitude of people had gathered together so that they

trampled one another, He began to say to His disciples first of all, "Beware of the leaven of the Pharisees, which is

          hypocrisy

2  For there is nothing covered that will not be revealed, nor hidden that will not be known.
3  Therefore whatever you have spoken in the dark will be heard in the light, and what you have spoken in

the ear in inner rooms will be proclaimed on the housetops.

1 Timothy 4:1-2
1  Now the Spirit expressly says that in latter times some will depart from the faith, giving heed to deceiving          spirits and doctrines of demons,
2  speaking lies in hypocrisy, having their own conscience seared with a hot iron,

Titus 1:15-16
15  To the pure all things are pure, but to those who are defiled and unbelieving nothing is pure, but even

their mind and conscience are defiled.
16  They profess to know God, but in works they deny Him, being abominable, disobedient, and disqualified

          for every good work.

Respect the Truth

“Buy the truth, and do not sell it” is the advice of Proverbs 23:23.

Lot sold the truth for a home in the city (Gen. 13:1–13).

Esau sold the truth for a mess of pottage (Gen. 25:29–34).

King Saul sold the truth for the support of the people (1 Sam. 15:24–35).

Judas sold the truth for thirty pieces of silver (Matt. 26:14–16)

Pilate sold the truth for the approval of the crowd (Mark 15:15). It is not worth it!

Matt. 23:27, 28

Tombs were whitewashed so that Jewish people would not accidentally touch them and thus be in ceremony defiled. Jesus likened the scribes and Pharisees to whitewashed tombs, which looked clean on the outside but were full of corruption inside. They were full of hypocrisy and iniquity.
